    Richard Cole, MD, leads the team at Patrick County Family Practice, with both the main office and urgent care office in Stuart, Virginia. He’s a family physician who’s certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Cole has been interested in medicine since he was 5 years old when he visited a clinic in his hometown for the first time. He was later inspired to pursue a career in the medical field as a young man playing sports and taking care of horses on his family horse farm in Claudville, just outside of Stuart. When he began learning more about family medicine, he knew the specialty was for him. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia and earning his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, both in Charlottesville, Dr. Cole completed his residency in family practice through East Carolina University at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina. There, he was named chief resident. Dr. Cole has been married to his wife Astrid, a registered nurse specializing in aesthetics at Patrick County Family Practice, since 1984. Together, they have six children.

    Dana Mabe, F.N.P., specializes in patient-oriented care at Patrick County Family Practice in Stuart, Virginia. Dana began her career at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where she studied and became a registered nurse. As a certified nurse practitioner who’s an integral part of the team at Patrick County Family Practice, Kaitlyn helps ensure the comfort and efficiency of each patient visit, whether it be for general medicine or urgent care. Kaitlyn attended the University of Virginia’s College at Wise in Wise, Virginia, where she was awarded the Wright Family Nursing Scholarship three years running and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing. After completing her undergraduate education, Kaitlyn enrolled at Clarkson College in Omaha, Nebraska, where she earned a Master of Science in nursing.
